Tenna Launches Next-Gen BLE Beacon Steel Puck SP2

Built Tough for the Industry’s Hardest-Hitting Assets

Tenna's newest BLE beacon steel puck SP2New Hope, PA – April 4, 2025 – TENNA, the construction technology platform powering equipment fleet operations, announces the launch of its latest innovation: TennaBLE Steel Puck 2 (SP2). This next-generation Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacon expands Tenna’s robust suite of asset tracking solutions with a device specifically engineered for the construction industry’s most rugged asset classes.

Encased in steel and Ultem™, and designed to be welded directly onto assets, the new and tough SP2 beacon is purpose-built to withstand extreme impact, weather, and abuse—ideal for trench boxes, concrete forms, boom sections, buckets and other equipment attachments.

Once installed, the SP2 beacon emits a regular Bluetooth heartbeat that is picked up by Tenna’s Mobile App for iOS and Android or by the TennaINTEL Equipment Tracker, seamlessly capturing asset location data and feeding it directly into the Tenna platform. With Tenna’s continuous innovations, contractors can continue to track even more diverse asset classes, improve field productivity, and make better-informed operational decisions all on Tenna’s single platform.

Contractors rely heavily on trench shoring boxes and concrete formwork to safely and efficiently complete essential infrastructure projects. These massive, heavy assets are cumbersome to move and must be transported between job sites, making their location and availability critical.

These materials require precise tracking to ensure the right sizes are deployed for specific site conditions, such as trench depth, soil type, or structure dimensions. Due to their size, cost, and operational importance, these assets benefit significantly from being tracked through a comprehensive asset management system. This enables contractors to maintain visibility across distributed job sites, prevent over-purchasing, reduce time spent locating assets, and streamline the scheduling and dispatching process. Inventory control by size further simplifies the planning process and ensures proper equipment is on-site when needed.

Digitizing the usage and movement of these assets not only enhances operational efficiency but may also support job costing and reduce unnecessary expenses—especially when missing or misplaced equipment leads to emergency reorders or job delays.

“At Tenna, we’re constantly innovating to grow the suite of asset classes contractors can track. Contractors asked for more durability and versatility in tracking their toughest assets—and we delivered,” said Austin Conti, CEO and Co-Founder of Tenna. “The new Steel Puck BLE Beacon is engineered with real construction challenges in mind, enabling contractors to gain visibility into hard-to-track support inventory that traditionally fall through the cracks.”

With the rising cost of equipment and the frequent loss or misplacement of high-impact items including trench boxes, concrete forms as well as critical machine parts like boom sections and other attachments, the SP2 solves a major industry challenge: keeping tabs on critical but easily overlooked support assets.

By expanding asset visibility across support inventory, contractors can:

  • Improve asset and inventory management
  • Maintain more accurate job costing and budget control
  • Reduce over-purchasing and asset replacement costs
  • Reduce time wasted searching for available inventory
  • Prevent project delays
  • Keep teams productive

This second-generation beacon builds on the proven foundation of Tenna’s original Steel Puck. The SP2 includes enhanced technology, and a stronger, more resilient casing designed specifically for real-world construction applications—unlike many consumer-grade or off-the-shelf alternatives.

This product can stand direct impact, is rated IP68, providing protection against dirt and water immersion, and is rated IP69k to withstand high pressure and high temperature washdowns of equipment.

“No other tracking solution on the market today is as rugged, intuitive, and construction specific as Tenna’s Steel Puck,” said Jose Cueva, Co-Founder and VP of Product. “We’ve designed SP2 from the ground up based on feedback from the field and rigorous testing, and it’s changing how contractors manage their fleets—one asset class at a time.”

With the SP2, contractors get the most rugged beacon on the market, backed by Tenna’s commitment to innovation and a unified platform for all equipment assets—from heavy iron to small tools and all ancillary inventory that supports construction operations.
